About Japan’s New Three Most Spectacular Night Views
In October 2015, the YAKEI Convention & Visitors Bureau, Japan’s only organization dedicated to night view tourism, established a new brand to promote domestic and international nighttime tourism. Based on votes by night view appreciation experts across Japan (individuals certified through the Night View Appreciation Examination), the top three cities are designated as the “New Three Japanese Cities with the Most Spectacular Night Views.” Yokohama was selected as the first city in the Tokyo Metropolitan area in 2024.
Reasons for Selection (comment from the YAKEI Convention & Visitors Bureau):
“In recent years, Yokohama has set an example for other cities through large-scale nighttime events such as yorunoyo and Yokohama Sparkling Twilight. These not only highlight the beauty of the night view itself but also provide a wide variety of experiences that maximize the city’s scenic resources, delivering strong satisfaction to the night view appreciation experts. The city’s ever-evolving skyline, shaped by continuous urban development, further enhances the dynamic appeal of its nightscape, which was highly evaluated as a growing strength of Yokohama.
