With Kno2 as its QHIN, WellSky will advance data interoperability and access across networks of healthcare providers
OVERLAND PARK, Kan.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–WellSky, a global health and community care technology and services company, today announced it will participate in the Trusted Exchange Framework and Common Agreement (TEFCA), a federally supported data exchange framework for national interoperability of patient health information. With its participation in TEFCA, WellSky reaffirms its commitment to advancing secure data sharing across the healthcare continuum to support the efficient exchange of clinical health information between care providers and will be positioned to optimize data sharing workflows with its provider clients across the care continuum.
To participate in the TEFCA national network, WellSky selected Kno2, a leader in healthcare communication and interoperability, as its Qualified Health Information Network (QHIN). As a QHIN, Kno2 will serve as the intermediary of the national network by facilitating the secure exchange of information across different health information entities.
“We are thrilled to progress our partnership with WellSky and are honored to be selected as its QHIN, solidifying the participation of WellSky in TEFCA,” said Therasa Bell, president and cofounder of Kno2. “Providers must be able to seamlessly exchange the right information at the right time, regardless of care venue. The prevalence WellSky has throughout the healthcare continuum presents a fantastic opportunity for providers and patients alike to benefit from a more connected health network.”
As the healthcare industry continues to see a rise in data publication, movement of patients between settings of care, and shifts in care delivery models, the ability to access timely and contextually relevant patient information is critical. For individual provider organizations, the effort to locate and obtain patient health information can often be resource intensive and ineffective — particularly when manually navigating multiple providers and networks.
With its participation in TEFCA, WellSky will advance solution innovations that support bi-directional data sharing that creates a more connected and efficient care delivery system, ultimately driving new efficiencies, decreasing operational costs, and improving patient outcomes.
The need for interoperability isn’t new, as networks such as CommonWell, Carequality, and state health information exchanges have long aimed to create broad data sharing across healthcare organizations. Through its membership in the CommonWell Health Alliance and its existing partnership with Kno2, WellSky has been on the forefront of introducing new innovations and advancing interoperability within multiple post-acute care settings. Through TEFCA, WellSky and its clients will benefit from an elevated focus on data sharing governance, security, and permitted purposes of exchange, while helping normalize data exchange across disparate health networks.
“Fundamental to providing quality care is the efficient, timely, and secure exchange of relevant health information between care providers,” said Bill Miller, chairman and chief executive officer at WellSky. “By selecting Kno2 as our QHIN and enabling our participation in TEFCA, WellSky has formalized our commitment to advancing that exchange, raising the bar for patient care delivery, and ultimately, elevating the potential for higher quality outcomes.”
