Seongnam, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea – AhnLab, a leader in cybersecurity, today announced that it has completed this year’s MITRE Engenuity ATT&CK® Evaluations Round 5 with AhnLab EPP and AhnLab EDR, underscoring their competence to detect and respond to sophisticated cyber threat techniques.

In the evaluation emulating the threat group Turla with a multi-phased intelligence-collection operation, AhnLab achieved remarkable results as follows:

  • AhnLab EPP – Endpoint Protection Platform: It blocked 12 out of 13 steps of the protection evaluation, which demonstrates its global-level capability to respond to real-world threat scenarios.
  • AhnLab EDR – Endpoint Detection and Response: It detected multiple advanced threat techniques of adversaries within the detection part of this evaluation while presenting detailed evidence as well as a comprehensive context.

Furthermore, AhnLab, as the only Korean company to participate in this evaluation for three consecutive rounds, established remarkable improvements that will ultimately benefit the end users.

“AhnLab has consistently improved its detection and prevention capabilities each year in the MITRE ATT&CK® evaluations, which proves the company’s global cybersecurity competencies”, said CTO of AhnLab, Sung-hak Jeon, adding, “It is our goal to deliver cybersecurity solutions and services capable of analyzing and responding to increasingly sophisticated threats through continuous research and development.”

The fifth round of ATT&CK Evaluations tested the capacity of 29 cybersecurity vendors to detect and respond to emulated attack techniques of well-known threat actor Turla. Turla is known for its novel and complex techniques such as targeted intrusions as well as innovative stealth.
