First NIST Validated End-to-End PQC VPNs Available Now
BETHESDA, Md.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Quantum Xchange today announced that its Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) key delivery and quantum-safe VPN solution, Phio TX, has successfully completed Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) 203 validation testing under the Cryptographic Algorithm Validation Program (CAVP).
FIPS 203, published by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) on Aug. 13, 2024, is one of the new PQC standards aimed at replacing existing quantum-vulnerable encryption algorithms that provide the indispensable security underpinning the modern networked world – from e-commerce, to privacy protection, trusted software distribution, and the coming decentralized Web3.
While many of the threats to security and privacy from quantum computing remain an issue for the not-so-distant future, network users are vulnerable to cryptography’s single points of failure and harvest now, decrypt later attacks that are happening now. The publication of the FIPS PQC standards has government agencies and commercial businesses beginning to implement PQC solutions today. Now, they have the industry’s first FIPS 203 validated, end-to-end PQC security solution in Phio TX to ease this effort.
“We are pleased to continue leading the industry in adopting emerging PQC standards,” said Eddy Zervigon, CEO of Quantum Xchange. “Coming on the heels of our recent FIPS 140-3 validation for Phio TX, we stand ready to help our customers get ahead of the onslaught of security and privacy challenges in the post-quantum era.”
Phio TX is used by customers to upgrade their existing networks from the older quantum-vulnerable cryptography, which has been in use for nearly half a century, to standardized PQCs. Phio TX offers a trusted management plane that enables PQC upgrades without disrupting data flows, provisioning systems, or network operations. With ML-KEM certifications now available, and dozens more algorithms in the queue, enterprise encryption is certain to see much change and fluctuation in coming years, illustrating the need for a change-management platform with built-in crypto-agility, like Phio TX, that doesn’t require system or application downtime when upgrades are made.
Phio TX supports all available PQC algorithms, including FIPS 203 ML-KEM, HQC, and FrodoKEM and was designed to support the accelerating pace of new PQC standards deployments. To learn more about the Phio TX FIPS 203 validation, please see NIST CMVP Certificate #6060.
